Understanding Natural Geologic Hazards --
What Everyone Should Know
This is also a comprehensive survey course (AIPG sponsored) in the form of approximately 500 Powerpoint slides covering our knowledge of geologic hazards and of the techniques we can use to mitigate, control, predict, and even prevent these events. This course has been taught as a semester-long course at the college level and as an AIPG-sponsored seminar in Alaska, being accredited by the State for continuing education requirements for realtors.
The Igneous Environment
This new course addresses the genesis, composition and tectonic processes related to volcanic activity and the emplacement of plutonic bodies. The illustrations reflect extensive travels by the author and igneous rocks and activity in various parts of the globe. Volcanic hazards, mitigation efforts and eruption forecasting techniques are also discussed.
