Well Logs and Log Analysis for New Hires

This offering provides a review of the well log  types used in  petroleum exploration and development.  This course is  useful not only  for "new hires" but anyone interested in recognizing the  types of logs  historically and currently run, information that the logs  may provide  and application of this knowledge to real world situations.

Basics of Seismic Petroleum Exploration for New Hires

The seismic course discusses  seismic waves, rock deformation and elastic versus plastic behavior; elastic properties, density and seismic wave velocities; seismic wave propagation and key travel time equations; single fold versus multi-fold coverage, horizontal versus dipping reflectors, offsets, multiples and diffractions; seismic acquisition; seismic processing and corrections and velocity terminology; integrating seismic with well control (reflection coefficients and synthetic seismograms, check shot surveys and VSPs); seismic interpretation; steps in prospect development; 2-D and 3-D seismic (basic information and possible pitfalls); 4-D seismic analysis or 3-D through time; hydrocarbon Indicators (HCI); AVO analysis; pore pressure prediction, seismic inversion, seismic stratigraphy and coherence.
